Our team is active in the United Nation (UN) Foundation Smart Grid work force and supports the Santa Fe Global Microgrid Center and Grid Wise Alliance. We also are part of the Smart Grid Federal Advisory Committee of the Dept of Commerce as well as advisor of the US Department of Energy, the California Energy Commission, the Department of Energy Laboratories, and UC Berkley Microgrid Laboratory.
In May 2011, the United Nations Foundation, with its “Sustainable Energy for All” initiative, launched a global Energy Access Practitioner Network which brings together skilled individuals from the private sector and government to work on delivering energy solutions and services to developing countries.

SDG&E Smart Grid Overview
In Borrego Springs, Calif., a remote village in a desert valley 90 miles northeast of San Diego, Sempra Energy is reinforcing its reputation as a forward-thinking energy company. Through its San Diego Gas & Electric subsidiary (SDG&E), Sempra is implementing a microgrid, a self-contained mini power grid that can keep the lights on in a community cut off from its main power supply due to a blackout, natural disaster, or terror attack.

Balance Energy Quietly Building Web of Microgrids
Key staff at Balance Energy were prior architects of Sempra's smart grid initiatives and Vice-Chair of the GridWise Alliance, as well as executives from BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin. The company is proposing to design, build, own, operate and maintain the microgrids and will also handle siting, permitting and financing.
